The Fairfax Genealogical Society is accepting proposals for its General Meetings for 2012-2013. Meetings are held in Dunn Loring, VA (Washington, DC area) on the fourth Thursday of every month from September to May excluding December. The November meeting is held on the third Thursday. And for 2013 the February program will also be the third Thursday. For 2012-2013, General Meetings will be held on the following dates: 20 September 2012, 25 October 2012, 15 November 2012, 24 January 2013, 28 February 2013, 28 March 2013, 25 April 2013, and 23 May 2013. General Meetings begin at 7:30 with business followed by a presentation. Presentations should be one hour long including question and answer period. General Meetings usually have over 100 people in attendance.

Topics may include any genealogical subject such as court records, ethnic research, military records, methodology, migration, writing, colonial research, or beginning, intermediate, or advanced research. No preference is given to topics related to Virginia since many attendees are non-natives; however, Virginia topics are certainly welcome. We will consider proposals from a single speaker for both the Thursday night General Meeting and the following Saturday Education Class, or for the Fall Fair or the Spring Conference; topics do not have to be related.

Speaker will receive an honorarium of $150 per session. Travel, per diem, board, and other expenses can NOT be provided and are the responsibility of the speaker. The programs committee will happily consider submissions for "remote" presentations (i.e. the speaker will present via "Go To Meeting" or similar software; currently FxGS does not provide the subscription to this service).

Multiple proposals may be submitted. Each proposal should be no more than one page with each proposal on a separate page. For electronic submissions, all information should be in a single file. The following information should be included:

The following information must also be included but may be submitted on each proposal page or just once in the file or envelope:

Proposals may be mailed or e-mailed (e-mail preferred). E-mail single proposal file, as an attachment, in PDF (preferred) or Word format. An e-mailed receipt confirmation will be sent (for e-mails only).
