Revolution in the Back Country: Daniel Boone and the Fight for Independence on the Frontier with Jim Anderson
Saturday, May 16, 2026, 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM
Description: “The Frontier” has had a significant impact on the history of our nation and, arguably, on our character as a people, distinct from our European roots. As we begin our celebration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, we have been hearing much about Lexington, Concord, Bunker Hill, with more to come. Using the life of Daniel Boone as an example, we will take a look at how the people on the edge of civilization were affected by the better-known events “back East.” The frontier between 1763 and 1785 was a "war within a war." While the Atlantic coast fought for independence, the backcountry of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Kentucky faced a brutal, triangular conflict between the British, the Continental forces, and a confederation of Native American nations fighting to preserve their ancestral lands.
